It is the only international journal specialised in the relationship between work, family and community. The aim of the journal is to publish high-quality theoretical and empirical articles in the relevant field.

It was founded by lecturers Carolyn Kagan (Manchester Metropolitan University) and Susan Lewis (Middlesex University) in 1998 in response to the growing interrelationships between work, family and community.

Today, Community, Work and Family is a leading journal in its field, increasingly studied, and is part of the Taylor and Francis editorial group.
