Mariolina Ceriotti: ‘Marriage is a great adventure that needs our creativity’

The well-known neuropsychiatrist was patron for the first graduating class of the postgraduate programme in Family Coaching and Guidance of the Institute for Advanced Family Studies (IESF). Some thirty students, from more than ten nationalities, received their diplomas in a ceremony that took place in the UIC Barcelona’s Aula Magna lecture theatre

The patron for the first graduating class of this postgraduate degree was the expert in family coaching and Italian neuropsychiatrist Mariolina Ceriotti. Known for her books La pareja imperfecta, Erótica y materna, o Cásate conmigo… de nuevo, Ceriotti structured her keynote speech around the idea of marriage “forever.”

The neuropsychiatrist, who participated in last year’s First International Workshop on Family Support, spoke about the inevitable difficulties that all marriages go through today, and the space to change, with creativity and no fear. “Marriage is a great adventure that needs our creativity.”

As stated by the postgraduate programme director, María Pilar Lacorte, this ceremony represents “the successful outcome of twenty years of training and the international workshop held in 2022.” As Lacorte said, “The expressed desire of Pope Francis to support families in today’s society has been a strong driving force behind these studies.”

The ceremony was led by the vice rector of Research and Knowledge Transfer, Cristina Monforte, and was closed with a few words from Belén Zarate, deputy director of IESF and law lecturer, “Welcome to your home, to this 25-year-old university, with graduates like you, who are the ones who will support so many families and bear so much fruit.”
