Pere Solanellas, director of the new Master's in Sports Management at UIC Barcelona

The university will begin offering this new Master's in Sports Management during the next academic year. Pere Solanellas, who has more than twenty years of experience in business management and is currently CEO of sports consultancy WUICS, will lead this Master’s at the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences
 

In 2013, Solanellas founded WUICS, in which he plays an advisory role to companies in the sports and health sector. In addition, he was also managing director of Grupo Accura, and was named “Best Professional Manager” in the sports sector by the Board of Directors of the Catalan Association of Sports Managers.

In addition to leading numerous projects and initiatives related to the professionalisation of the sports and healthcare sectors, Solanellas has directed the Master’s in Sports Management at Pompeu Fabra University and has given countless lectures at faculties and universities around the world. He is currently a professor at the UIC Barcelona Faculty of Economic Sciences.

Pere Solanellas highlights that, “this master's degree aims to train managers and executives in human and business skills so they can understand the characteristics of the sports industry in relation to the market, economy and legal environment of sports organisations”. He adds: “All the content will be taught through a practical and innovative methodology based on understanding, transforming and having an impact”.

With this new master's degree, the university has expanded its academic offer with a complete study plan for students interested in Sports Management. The master's degree shows all how sports management can be applied from a comprehensive perspective in order to improve the management of sports organisations.
