The Pilarín Bayés Library in Vic, promoted by UIC Barcelona lecturers and BCQ architects, finalist in the ARCHELLO AWARDS 2023
The Archello platform has chosen the Pilarín Bayés Library among the finalists in the Library of the Year category. The library has been nominated for both the International Jury Award and the Audience Award
Archello, the digital media specialised in Architecture, has published the lists of the finalists for the Archello Awards 2023. In a category where residential, religious or labour buildings are nominated, among many other areas, the Pilarin Bayés Library has been chosen as a finalist in the Library of the Year category.
The library was built in 2022 and designed by the BCQ studio, of which David Baena, lecturer for the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture, is the CEO. Lecturer Xavier Martínez also participated in the project as facilities director.
The building unfolds around a garden open to the city and offers multiple differentiated spaces: double-height children's area, training and citizen attention spaces, music and image areas with a recording studio, restaurant service and even play area. The garden is also a memorial space that pays tribute to the victims of the 1991 attack where ten large trees have been planted.
The public can vote for the best library until 2 December.
