President of Reny Picot Gives Tips on Being a Good Entrepreneur

On Wednesday, 12 March 2014, Francisco Rodríguez, the President of Reny Picot, gave the lecture «What You Need To Be a Good Entrepreneur». The lecture was part of the continuing education lecture series organized by the UIC Faculty of Law.

During the lecture, Rodríguez revealed the qualities he feels are necessary to be a good entrepreneur. He began by saying, “Entrepreneurs are born. They get a great education and know how to get things done”.

He classified entrepreneurs in three large groups: the small entrepreneur, the medium-sized entrepreneur and the manager. “Big companies aren’t the ones that create employment. It’s the many small and medium-sized businesses”, he said.

He also gave some advice about economic risk. “You need to distinguish between fixed costs (direct costs) and structural costs (indirect costs). You need to watch structural costs, especially when creating a small or medium-sized business. They should always be kept to a minimum and should be light and adjustable”, he said.

Finally, he concluded the lecture by saying, “We need to protect small and medium-sized businesses. We need family-run businesses because they are key to a country’s prosperity”.

Francisco Rodríguez is the President of Industrias Lácteas Asturianas, the multinational manufacturer of Reny Picot dairy products.
