Report on District of Gràcia Wins Journalism Workshop
Milo de Prieto, Artur Paz and Norbert Bodegom made up part of the jury that assessed the projects of journalism students participating in the workshop «People and Daily Life in Barcelona». The workshop is part of the subject Television Communication, which is taught by Dr. Ricard Mamblona.
The workshop was taught by Norbert Bodegom, a producer at the Spanish television broadcaster TVE, and Dr. Ricard Mamblona, the Head of Studies for the Degree in Audiovisual Communication. The news reports created by second-year journalism students were shown to a jury of experts made up of Milo de Prieto, a video producer for The New York Times Company; Artur Paz, an online video producer at Meercacom; and the two workshop professors.
During the week of 15-19 April 2013, the students created their news reports, which had to be in English and deal with the topic of the workshop “People and Daily Life in Barcelona”. The objective was to create a news report featuring some of the most important districts in Barcelona: the Eixample, the neighbourhood of Sants-Montjuïc, the area of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, the neighbourhood of Gràcia and Ciutat Vella.
The jury assessed the script, production process and filming as well as the final result. First place went to the group Fast Mummy Productions, who presented the report “Gràcia, All Day All Night”. Second place went to the group Stairs & Steps Productions for the report “A Walk in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi”.
