Secrets of the professional interview and keys to entering the work world
Fourth-year students of different bachelor’s degrees on the Barcelona Campus had the opportunity to address the challenges they will face as they enter the work world with help from three personnel selection experts. The three guests shared their experience and gave advice on how to prepare for their future at the round table discussion, hosted by Alumni & Careers
Under the title “Job Market: current trends and impact on the employability of recent graduates,” the colloquium brought together three professionals. On this occasion, the speakers were alumni Monica Mosser (Bachelor’s Degree in Law, 2016), lawyer and scout at IurisTalent; Genis Olivé, Manager Consultant at PageGroup; and Maite Poyos, Audit & Assurance of Talent Leader at Deloitte.
Among other issues, the experts talked about the importance of passion and patience in the work experience and gave some pointers on standing out in a selection process. Additionally, the speakers valued attitude as a differential factor to enter a company and stressed the today’s clear importance on the so-called soft skills, and they talked about the new business dynamics that have emerged from the pandemic and that are here to stay.
Furthermore, the round table guests spoke about the immediacy of today’s society and encouraged listeners to take on a more objective, long-term view of their job opportunities. “The key to success,” Maite Poyos said, “is the bidirectionality between personal values and those of the organisation.”
At the end of their presentation, the Q&A began. The session ended with a coffee break and time for networking.
This session is part of a series of sessions organised by UIC Barcelona Alumni & Careers for both University campuses.
