Held on19 September in the Royal Tapestry Factory of Madrid, the 27th edition of the awards sponsored by Gaceta Dental once again recognised the excellence of professionals and young talent in the dental sector with the support of leading companies in the field.

The awards have several categories and Karen Corbani, graduate of Dentistry and student of the Master’s Degree in Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry at UIC Barcelona, was given the GD award for Best Talent in Dentistry for her final degree project titled “Influence of the angle of inclination on the absorption of water from printed resins: An in-vitro study”.

As Corbani explains, “3D printing is transforming the way we approach the treatments and materials we use, so I wanted to investigate how the physical properties of printed resins can influence their long-term clinical performance.” Dr María Arregui was the tutor of the project that shows that the impact of angulation on water absorption is a crucial aspect that can improve the durability and effectiveness of these materials, “and I believe that this type of research has the potential to benefit both professionals and patients,” added Karen Corbani.

Corbani was “deeply honoured to receive this award and very grateful to the teachers, classmates and all the people who have supported me along this path.” As she explained, “this award is a recognition of the effort, dedication and passion I have invested in my training, and a motivation to continue advancing and contributing to the field of dentistry.”
