Successful meeting at the University of former students who graduated 15 and 25 years ago

Some 100 former students gathered on 23 March for an Alumni meeting held on the Barcelona Campus. The event celebrated the reunion of the graduating classes of 2002 and 2008 and was attended by the rector, Alfonso Méndiz, and members of the Board of Trustees and the University Advisory Council. The guest speaker for the main session Carlos Andreu, renowned lecturer and educator, spoke on the keys to success.

On Thursday, 23 March, the reunion took place for the classes celebrating this year the 15th and 25th year anniversary of their graduation from UIC Barcelona. The reunion had Carlos Andreu as guest speaker, who gave a speech titled “Keys to learning to be happy in times of uncertainty.” The presentation was full of enthusiasm and encouragement to face the circumstances of each day and was focused on the motivations that make us get up in the morning, the four pillars necessary to be happy and a reflection on what it really means to be successful in life.

The two classes attending the reunion graduated during the years that were important milestones in history: the 11 September attack and the change in world geopolitics in 2002, and the beginning of the 2008 economic crisis. For this reason, the rector of the University, Alfonso Méndiz, told them in his speech that they are “two graduating classes with a high level of resilience." The rector also took the opportunity to express that the University that was “still small” when they left now has 25,000 alumni and more than 9,000 students.

The meeting ended with a cocktail, giving teachers and former students from the different graduating classes and degree programmes the opportunity to meet again and learn more about the different innovations at their university.
