The documentary Brazadas, produced by the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona), received the “Daniele Redaelli Sport and Solidarity Award” at the Milano International FICTS Fest. The awards ceremony took place on Saturday afternoon in Milan, where 30 international awards were presented. The festival is the world final of the 20 festivals held on five continents, of the Worldwide Championship of Television, Cinema, Culture and Sports Communication.

Brazadas covers the Upside Down Menorca solidarity race, the second sport challenge accepted by Daniel Rossinés in which he swam more than 65,000 strokes and 130 kilometres around the island of Menorca with the aim of raising funds for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) research. Daniel Rossinés, founder of the Upside Down Challenge and professional swimmer who stars in the documentary, Luisa Cassina, marketing director at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona) and Albert Gordillo, documentary director and head of audiovisual content at the University, accepted the award on behalf of UIC Barcelona.

Rossinés thanked UIC Barcelona for promoting and raising awareness about ALS in society. “The documentary is based on friendship and commitment that intertwine with society, reminding us that together we are stronger,” Rossinés concluded.

Luisa Cassina, representing UIC Barcelona, expressed her gratitude to the festival for the award and started that “By supporting the Brazadas project, UIC Barcelona, with driving values forward as its motto, honours the mission that inspires us to positively impact our society."

The film in support of ALS research won the Esport i Societat award at the BCN Sports Film Festival last February celebrated at the Joan Antoni Samaranch Olympic and Sports Museum, in a meeting point between the world of cinema, sports, politics and society.
