On Thursday, 20 April, UIC Barcelona hosted the presentation of the book Cuaderno de Hebrón, published by the Editorial Albada publising house, a diary written by Carlos Lagarriga during his stay at Vall d’Hebron Hospital while he was being treated for cancer. Lagarriga shares an intimate story in which he reveals his personal feelings and talks about Cristina, his first wife, admitted to this same hospital because of an incurable cancer. Both would die of cancer.
After Lagarriga's death, his second wife, Roser Herrera, recovered and edited 150 non-commercial copies, which she gave to different groups of friends of the author. Now, the Editorial Albada is publishing the Cuaderno de Hebrón, in Spanish and Catalan, which is the testimony of Carlos Lagarriga in a collection of 88 diary entries. The forward is by Antonio Iturbe, a good friend of Carlos.
Carlos Lagarriga, holder of an undergraduate degree in Romance Philology from the Universitat de Barcelona, as well as a writer, editor and translator, was a lecturer at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya. He taught writing and written communication classes in Journalism, Audiovisual Communication, and Advertising and Public Relations for two academic years. He was also a member of the teaching staff for the University Master’s Degree in Cultural Management of the Faculty of Humanities between 2004 and 2013.
The event ended with a round table discussion where the book and, in short, the life of Carlos Lagarriga was discussed. The discussion was moderated by Consuelo León, head of the UIC Barcelona Equality and Inclusion Unit, with the participation of Roser Herrera, widow of Carlos Lagarriga; Enrique Murillo, editor; Antonio Iturbe, writer and journalist and Dolors Massot, journalist at Aleteia.
