For the first time, UIC Barcelona has been included in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, which lists the best universities in the world.
Now in its seventeenth year, the THE-WUR continues to be the leading international ranking that underpins excellence in higher education. As such, in order to assess higher education and research institutions, the ranking is based on different indicators that are grouped into five areas: teaching (the learning environment); research (volume, income and reputation); citations (research influence); international outlook (staff, students and research); and industry income (knowledge transfer), as well as academic reputation.
UIC Barcelona has ranked highly in the “international outlook” area, achieving 404th place.
This year, the results offer a ranking of 1,527 institutions from 93 different countries, based on a participation of 1,993 higher education and research institutions from around the world. What’s more, it has also analysed 13.6 million research publications and 86 million citations over a five-year period, according to bibliometric data compiled by Elsevier, a global information analytics company.
