UIC Barcelona School of Architecture students will design the Yamaha Light Meeting Point at the LlumBCN 2024 festival

Students Gisela Cardona, Marko Jesic, Nona Kadieva and Roberth Carrion have been chosen to design a Yamaha lighting installation at the Llum BCN 2024 light arts festival

As part of the preparations for the Llum BCN festival, a workshop was held in the MediaTIC building in Poblenou on 24 October to choose the best lighting project for the Yamaha Light Meeting Point space. Students from seventeen design schools in the city attended the workshop, and from these students, they chose UIC Barcelona School Architecture students Gisela Cardona, Marko Jesic, Nona Kadieva and Roberth Carrion as winners.

In the first part of the workshop, students received a master class on ways to build ephemeral structures in public spaces. In the second part, participants formed groups of five and presented their projects that had to include an electric Yamaha motorcycle, in addition to one new electric bicycle model.

The jury made up by the sponsoring company and Llum BCN representatives chose the project presented by the five participants from the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture. In this way, Yamaha and the Llum BCN festival show their commitment to young creative talent and give students the opportunity to design a real-life light structure.

The Llum BCN festival will convert a part of Barcelona City into an open-air museum where photon lighting projects interacting with public space will be on exhibit.
