UIC Barcelona stands out once again in Social Sciences and Medical and Health in THE WUR by subject ranking
The University has improved its ranking in the field of Social Sciences in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by subject 2025 and maintains its classification in Medical and Health
In the 2025 edition of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by subject, UIC Barcelona improves its ranking in the field of Social Sciences and moves to 601-800 of the 1,093 universities classified worldwide. At the national level, it is positioned in range 20-32 of the 44 universities that appear in the ranking. In Medicine and Health, UIC Barcelona maintains its position 601-800 out of the 1,150 universities classified, and at the national level it is positioned in the 14-36 range of the 43 universities listed in the ranking.
The disciplines included in the field of Medicine and Health are Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Healthcare and Public Health. In the field of Social Sciences include the disciplines of Communication and Media Studies, Politics and International Studies, Anthropology, Sociology and Geography.
In Medicine and Health, UIC Barcelona has improved its score in two of its five pillars: industry (+3.2%) and international outlook (+2.6%). In the field of Social Sciences, the University significantly improved its score in international outlook (+46.2%) and research quality (+12.2%).
At national level, UIC Barcelona is among the top 10 Spanish universities in international outlook: occupying second position in the field of Medicine and Health and eighth in the field of Social Sciences.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2025 has ranked 2,061 universities in 115 countries by eleven subject-specific areas (Arts and Humanities, Business and Economics, Medicine and Health, Computer Science, Education studies, Engineering, Law, Life Sciences, Physical Science, Psychology and Social Sciences), and provides an overview of the best universities in the world to study the chosen discipline.
The methodology used in the World University Rankings by Subject is based on the eighteen performance indicators used in Times Higher Education World University Ranking, grouped into five pillars: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and international outlook. These are recalibrated to adapt them to each specific area.

The objective of the UIC Barcelona Statistical Data and Rankings Office is to measure the performance of different aspects of the University through data and evidence, allowing it to be visible both nationally and internationally through the social impact produced by rankings and listings.
