UIC Barcelona strengthens ties with China
UIC Barcelona has been promoting academic exchange activities with some universities in the Asian country and there have been institutional visits with the Consulate of China
The vice-rector of International Relations, Eduardo Mirpuri, Reetta Heikkinen (Global Partnerships Manager) and Vanessa Willenberg (Mobility Coordinator) from the International Relations Service, visited the Consulate of China in Barcelona on 3 October. Acting Consul General Hu Aimin and Consul Zhang Yan were present representing the Consulate of China in Barcelona.
During the meeting, they studied possible ways of cooperating between UIC Barcelona and Chinese universities. Specifically, opportunities were explored to establish double degree programmes, develop short exchange programmes and share cultural information through international conferences and educational days.
Recent activities with Chinese universities
At the end of July, UIC Barcelona welcomed a group of students from Hainan Medical University. While they were here, the students from this Chinese university took part in workshops on bioengineering, biomedicine, medicine and dentistry, organised by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and the Faculty of Dentistry, both located on the Sant Cugat campus. They were also able to visit UIC Barcelona’s Comprehensive Centre for Advanced Simulation (CISA).
Ten Biomedicine and Bioengineering students from UIC Barcelona also had the opportunity to participate in the Summer Science Camp at the Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT), from 7 to 20 July. Thanks to a grant, the students not only attended workshops and lectures, but also immersed themselves in Chinese culture with trips to the Great Wall of China, Tiananmen Square and other iconic places.
