UIC Barcelona welcomes the new students of the Doctoral School

Last Saturday, 20 January a welcome session was held for new students of the 2023-2024 academic year of the UIC Barcelona Doctoral School. A total of 85 doctoral students attended, as well as representatives of the academic commissions of each programme, alongside the school staff

Director of the Doctoral School Núria Casals gave the opening remarks of the session, conceived as a community meeting point for all doctoral students from the programmes in Architecture, Health Sciences, Economics and Law and Communication, Education and Humanities.

During the session, the dynamics of doctoral studies were explained and the students were informed about the management tools available along with the entire range of compulsory and complementary training activities offered to them.

The event is vital for new students to get involved and was an opportunity to share doubts, concerns and interests thanks to the open participation that took place during the event.

At the end of the joint session, the representatives of the doctoral academic commissions met with the students of each programme to get to know each other and resolve any remaining issues.

The Doctoral School was born in 2014 with the aim of consolidating UIC Barcelona as a reference in the training of research staff. In twelve years, a total of 451 doctoral theses have been defended by students of the School. Currently, it has 431 doctoral students: 50 in Economics and Law, 65 in Communication, Education and Humanities, 47 in Architecture and 269 in Health.
