The UIC Presents its Range of Bachelor's Degree Programmes at Educational Resources Exhibition

On Wednesday, 12 March 2014, UIC Rector Dr. Pere Alavedra greeted Andreu Mas-Colell, the Catalan Secretary for Universities and Research of the Ministry of Economy and Knowledge, and Irene Rigau, the Catalan Secretary for Education, during their inaugural visit to the Educational Resources Exhibition, which will be open until Sunday, 16 March, at the Fira de Barcelona trade fair centre.

On Wednesday, 12 March 2014, dozens of students visited the Educational Resources Exhibition, which will be open until Sunday, 17 March, at the Fira de Barcelona trade fair centre. Over the course of the five days, student volunteers, administrative staff and teachers at the UIC booth will provide information on the thirteen degree programmes offered by the UIC on its campuses in Barcelona and Sant Cugat del Vallès.

The UIC offers thirteen bachelor’s degree programmes as well as seven double degree programmes. Humanities and Primary-School Education; Humanities and Business Administration; Law and Business Administration; and Business Administration and Engineering are just some of the possible programmes that students can combine to widen their career options as well as their knowledge.

A new feature at the UIC this academic year are its grants for academic excellence for the bachelor’s degree programmes in Business Administration (covering 80% of the enrolment fee for every year of the degree programme) and Architecture (covering 60% of the enrolment fees for the first year and 50% of the enrolment fees for the remaining years). The grants are for students with excellent academic results and are part of the UIC’s commitment to contribute to addressing specific needs in society.

The UIC's objective is not only to ensure that its students become excellent professionals, but also to cultivate and promote other qualities that will help them in their personal and professional development. It therefore attaches particular importance to aspects such as personal guidance sessions, tutorials and coaching. The UIC applies a teaching model based on academic excellence, customization and maximizing student skills.

For the first time, the Catalan University Sports Association (ECU) has its own stand at the exhibition. Through its Sports Service, the UIC is collaborating with other Catalan universities to organize different sporting activities, which will be held from Wednesday to Saturday, 12-15 March 2014. At the entrance to the exhibition, in Univers Square, there are four 3-on-3 basketball courts. This space will host the 2014 Catalonia University Basketball Championships. Women’s teams will compete on Wednesday, 12 March 2014, while men’s teams will compete on Friday, 14 March 2014. The objective is to encourage the public to participate in university sports and to lead a healthy lifestyle. To this end, the UIC Department of Nursing is organizing a CPR and first aid workshop in Univers Square to showcase the role of prevention and care, which will be held at the weekend.

The UIC will also be at the Futura Fair on Friday and Saturday, 14-15 March 2014, where it will present its more than one hundred postgraduate programmes.
