Valeria Gómez travels to Brussels as UNICAT ambassador

The fourth-year Advertising and Public Relations student at UIC Barcelona met with workers from the European Union to get to know the different institutions and learn how they work

UNICAT Ambassadors is a project promoted by the Interuniversity Council of Catalonia (CIC), with the purpose of creating a network of university ambassadors interested in sharing the job offers and practicums available in the European Union with the entire university community. This network is made up of 12 students representing Catalan universities who act as a point of contact.

Valeria Gómez, fourth-year Advertising and Public Relations student at UIC Barcelona and UNICAT ambassador, participated in a trip to Brussels in mid-February with the purpose of visiting and getting to know all the EU institutions. Catalan officials at each institution informed the student representatives through talks about how the institutions work and how to apply for a job or do a practicum.

Valeria Gómez had a very rewarding stay: “Going to Brussels as a UNICAT ambassador for the University has been a very beneficial experience. From European Union employees, I was able to learn how the different institutions work and the practicums and job opportunities they offer,” she said.

Gómez emphasizes that what motivated her most about the project was to learn and meet people.  “My career has to do with our role as ambassadors: to disseminate information on training and job offers in the European institutions. I think it is very important for university students to know that they have opportunities in the European Union, regardless of the programmes they are studying,” she said.
