In their contribution to the book, the two professors analyse the difficulties of problem-solving in the mathematics classroom, referring to research on the subject carried out over the course of a school year. Their conclusions and recommendations should lead to a qualitative change which encourages the comprehension of problems and promotes a greater awareness of the learning process.  As they affirm, “It is about trying to give schoolteachers the tools which will enable them to teach their pupils to take responsibility for what they learn and how they learn it, and to evaluate their own learning process”.
