The Catalan Ministry of Health has announced its decision to appoint Dr.
Xavier Corbella as the new Managing
Director of Hospital de Sant Pau de Barcelona. Corbella is currently the Managing
Director of Hospital de Bellvitge, which forms part of the Catalan Health Institute (ICS), as well as the
Regional Manager of the Southern Metropolitan Area of the ICS.

A specialist in internal medicine, Corbella holds an MBA from ESADE
Business School, as well as a Master's Degree in Management of Healthcare
Institutions from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He is also an
assistant professor and the director of the UIC Master’s Degree Programme in
Healthcare Management, positions he has held since the programme was first
introduced in 2010.

Professor Corbella will continue to be the Director of the UIC Master’s Degree Programme
in Healthcare Management, an official programme that provides practical and
professional education and training for medical practitioners and graduates
from other academic disciplines interested in health management.
