The directors of the WeCare Chair at UIC Barcelona, Cristina Monforte and Joaquim Julià, were involved in the organisation of the key meeting in the field of palliative care as coordinator and as a member of the Scientific Committee respectively

Cristina Monforte heads the team of WeCare Chair researchers who are leading work packages as part of the competitive project titled “RAPHAEL: Integrating a palliative care approach for patients with heart failure”, which has obtained competitive funding from the HORIZON Europe funds

As part of the conference series organised by the Faculty of Humanities and Cases Singulars, lecturer Anna Pou gave a talk titled, “Visionary and Transgressive: Women Artists of Modernity”

The project is funded by the European Commission and its main objective is to contribute to the prevention of sexual violence against children and adolescents at an international level through a free anonymous chat therapy service aimed at consumers of these materials

Students evaluated the level of inclusion of three public spaces in Barcelona in a workshop organised by the Master's Degree in International Cooperation in Sustainable Emergency Architecture (MICSEA) 

Violence against women, the vulnerable (the elderly, children, the people with disabilities), and in general within the home, has become the scourge of today’s society, as shown by various studies. This alarming humanitarian situation, which also affects public health, has a direct impact on the increasing inequalities and the democratic quality of our coexistence.

On 6 and 7 October, UIC Barcelona lecturers Silvia Albareda from the Faculty of Education Sciences and Elisa Rechadera from the Faculty of Communication Sciences and medical students participated in the “1st International Conference on Sustainable Curriculum and ODS in University Education,” organised by the Universitat de València.

Elisa Regadera is director of the Master’s Degree in Communication, Brand Management and Sustainability in the Fashion Industry at UIC Barcelona. She conducts research on how fashion companies are coping with and communicating their transformation to the circular economy.

Organised by the Department of Institutional Culture of UIC Barcelona, Carmen María Lázaro, lecturer in Civil Law at our university gave a talk on the questions posed by surrogate pregnancy. On two separate occasions online, Lázaro reviewed the current situation and spoke of the 2019 draft law regulating the right to substitute gestation.

Elena Neira holds degrees in Law and Audiovisual Communication and is a lecturer at the Faculty of Communication Sciences at UIC Barcelona. She is an expert in new audiovisual distribution models and a regular contributor to Movistar+ specials on the Emmys, Golden Globes and Oscars. As a doctoral student, her main lines of research include video on demand, the Netflix model, the impact of streaming platforms on the traditional audiovisual industry and the transformation of consumption habits. She has given various talks including a TED Talk about Netflix, and was recently nominated as one of the "50 most powerful women in the audiovisual business in Spain" by Forbes.
