The directors of the WeCare Chair at UIC Barcelona, Cristina Monforte and Joaquim Julià, were involved in the organisation of the key meeting in the field of palliative care as coordinator and as a member of the Scientific Committee respectively

This was highlighted by Cristina Monforte, co-director of the WeCare Chair of UIC Barcelona and coordinator of the Scientific Committee of the 14th International Congress of the Spanish Society of Palliative Care (SECPAL), which will be held from 17 to 19 October in Malaga

As part of the conference, the Dr Miquel Cortada Awards for scientific excellence were presented to the best Final Degree Project and the best Final Master's Project. The II Career Forum, promoted by the Alumni & Careers department, was also held.

Researchers from different areas of UIC Barcelona have been included in the prestigious ranking of world scientists, “World’s Top 2% Scientists” from Stanford University, which brings 223,152 scientists together from 22 different areas.

Miguel Ángel Mateos, a researcher at the Bioengineering Institute of Technology (BIT), is participating in a study promoted by ICMAB (Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona), which has managed to create functional biohybrid hydrogels matrices at laboratory scale, a structure that allows to increase the proliferation of human T-cells in cultures. Researchers from the UPC have also participated in the study.

As such, the expert researcher in biomaterials will be responsible for promoting and lending visibility to the research carried out in the field of Bioengineering, seeking synergies with other areas of research at the University

With this appointment, Pérez joins the University's Board of Governors and takes on the task of promoting and implementing the University's strategic lines of research, with human health and social progress as key features.
